San Francisco Service Area
Nob Hill peaks near Jones and Sacramento Streets, with Grace Cathedral, Huntington Park and the California Street hotels gathered at the top. The 1906 earthquake and fire destroyed nearly everything on it. Hotels and apartment buildings rose where the mansions had been, and that is still what the hill is made of.

About 20,000 people live in roughly a third of a square mile, which makes this one of the most tightly built parts of San Francisco. The typical address is a unit in a brick or stucco apartment house or a former residential hotel, often with shops at sidewalk level.
So window cleaning in Nob Hill is mostly building work. It means coordinating with an HOA or a property manager, working around fire escapes and bay windows, and knowing which buildings are within reach. Dan Mount Cleaning Services is fully insured, safety certified for mid-rise buildings and works up to four stories.
The south slope is a National Register district of apartment buildings and hotels built mostly between 1906 and 1925. They stand three to seven stories tall, with bay windows and fire escapes over the sidewalk. A water-fed pole has to thread past that ironwork, and each bay's angled side panes need their own pass.
Facades on the hill are stucco, brick and galvanized iron, dressed with Renaissance ornament. Dirty water running off a cornice or a sill leaves streaks on clean glass, so frames and sills get washed along with the panes. The final rinse is deionized water, which leaves nothing to dry into spots on upper windows.
Many of these buildings have storefronts on the ground floor, and Polk Street on the west side of the neighborhood is a busy strip of restaurants, cafes and bars. Glass at sidewalk height picks up exhaust film, handprints and splash from the gutter. It is cleaned by hand with a squeegee.
Cable cars run on California Street over the summit, and the Powell lines cross it at the crest. Those streets have rails, a cable slot and steady traffic, so our equipment stays on the sidewalk. A building that is four stories at its uphill corner can be five at the downhill one.
For HOAs, owners and managers, our condo, apartment and mid-rise window cleaning handles whole buildings up to four stories. Exterior glass above the ground floor is reached with a water-fed pole from the sidewalk, and deionized water dries spot free. Inside units and at street level we use a squeegee. Single units can book a regular window cleaning.
Ground-floor businesses can set up recurring commercial window cleaning. Building entries, steps and sidewalks that have gone gray respond well to power washing, and painted or stucco walls can be soft washed instead. Awnings and steam cleaning fall under specialty cleaning. Every job, large or small, starts with a written quote.

For a whole building we prefer one point of contact, ideally the property manager or an HOA board member. We need to know the house rules and how interior access to units will be handled. Exterior-only work needs less coordination, since the pole work happens from the sidewalk.
Curb space is tight on the hill and the sidewalks are in constant use. Tell us about any loading zone, garage or driveway the building has. We plan the downhill face of the building first, because it is the tallest one and it decides the setup.
Nob Hill window cleaning tends to split into two schedules. Street-level glass on a traffic corridor gets dirty fastest, so storefronts need the shortest cycle. Upper residential floors can go longer between visits, though fog adds a mineral film in summer. We can quote the two separately.
Our limit is four stories. Apartment buildings on the south slope run from three to seven stories, so some are within our range and some are not. Call (415) 975-1522 with the address and floor count, and we will say plainly whether it is within reach.
From the sidewalk, with a water-fed pole angled between the landings and the wall. Each bay has a center pane and two angled sides, and each one gets brushed and rinsed with deionized water. Where ironwork blocks the pole, we note that pane in the quote.
Either works. An individual owner can book cleaning for a single unit when the outside glass can be reached from the ground. An HOA or property manager can book the whole building at once, which usually makes more sense for exterior glass shared across several floors.
Interior and exterior glass, screens, tracks and sills. Above the ground floor, the outside glass is washed with deionized water through a water-fed pole. Interior and ground-level glass is done by hand. We use eco-friendly products, and the scope is listed in your written quote.
